The Emerald City.

"Oh, I've always wanted to see the Emerald City!"

Tomorrow I leave for Seattle! Although it isn't exactly the same Emerald City described in Wicked, the musical, I think I have the same excitement to see it that Galinda and Elphaba described in their song, One Short Day (see the YouTube video below). I decided a few months back to use my Labor Day weekend wisely this year. My birthday falls near this weekend every year, as does the start of football season. I typically just use the game as a celebration for my birthday, but I felt I really needed a trip to look forward to, so I booked myself a trip to Seattle.

Although I typically take a big risk and travel solo, that won't exactly be the case this time. I'm flying out of Atlanta by myself, but once I arrive, I will be meeting a wonderful friend that lives in Seattle. She graduated with me in public relations at UA and moved to Seattle to start her career. Since she's been there, I've been saying I wanted to come visit. Now I'm just excited that our wishes are coming to fruition. I'll give you a sneak peek into what we have planned: dragon boat racing, whale watching and a trip to Canada! Grab your popcorn because I'll have tons of stories to share when I return!
